View From Front Balcony to Beach Recreation GolfingPalmas Del Mar has two 18 hole championship golf courses. The first one (named The Palm) was originally designed by Gary Player, but was brilliantly remodeled by Rees Jones in 1998. The second course (Flamboyan) was designed completely by Rees Jones and opened in 1999. Barron's magazine ranked the Flamboyan course #1 in Puerto Rico and #5 in the Caribbean. Each course features many challenging holes with breathtaking views across the Caribbean sea and swaying palm trees. There is a driving range and private or group golf lessons or clinics can be arranged. The fully stocked pro shop has beautiful attire for purchase as well as golf clubs and shoes. The clubhouse is magnificent and you can relax and have a drink after golf or a relaxing massage and pedicure. TennisWith five clay and 15 hard courts, 7 lighted for night play, Palmas Del Mar's Tennis Club is the largest and arguably most advanced teaching tennis center in the Caribbean; widely considered among the top 100 in the world. There are clinics for adults as well as children and private or group lessons are available. Tennis accessories, sportswear, rental equipment and a ball machine are available at the pro shop. Fitness CenterThe Fitness Center is located on the upper level of the Tennis Club and offers a wide range of exercise equipment. Horseback RidingGuided trail rides six days a week. The MarinaThere are several charter boat companies based at the Palmas Del Mar Marina. They will take you sailing, deep sea fishing, scuba diving or for trips to Monkey Island or Viequez. Monkey Island is a National Park that is located 25 minutes from Palmas Del Mar. It is inhabited by over one thousand Rhesus Monkeys and, although you are not allowed to go into the interior of the island, the monkeys usually come down out of the trees to greet their visitors. Viequez Island, located about 45 minutes from Palmas has the best snorkeling and some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. |
